All Clear Issued at Newark Airport After Report of Suspicious Package

DEVELOPING: Authorities issued an all clear at Newark Liberty International Airport after reports of a suspicious device found behind a ticket counter at a security checkpoint.

Law enforcement had closed Terminal A early Monday as a precaution.

MyFoxNY.com reports that the alert was caused by a package containing a computer monitor that was leaking excessive radioactivity.

American Airlines spokesman Tim Smith told The Associated Press the package was found behind the ticket counter at a security checkpoint where checked bags are screened.
