Albanian Murder Fugitive Arrested in Detroit After 22 Years on the Run

A man convicted of murder in Albania was Thursday arrested in Detroit after 22 years on the run.

Selin Struga has been living a fugitive's life in Michigan, reported.

Court documents indicate he stabbed and killed someone in a bar in the summer of 1989. He was convicted of the crime in Albania, even though he was not present for his trial.

He was arrested by the FBI on Thursday morning. The Albanian government contacted the U.S. Department of Justice to help apprehend Struga.

"He found out today that he could not escape the law," said FBI spokesman Simon Shaykhet.

Struga was expected to appear at a detention hearing Monday.
