A high school football coach in Alabama was placed on administrative leave following an alleged "physical incident" with one of his players, MyFoxAL.com reports.
David Shores, head football coach at Spain Park High School in Birmingham, Ala., was placed on paid administrative leave after an alleged physical altercation with a team member during practice on Tuesday.
School principal Chris Shaw told the station that an investigation is ongoing, but declined to comment further on the alleged incident.
"As of right now, we did have some allegations yesterday at a football practice at Spain Park of a physical altercation between a player and coach Shores," Hoover City Schools spokesperson Jason Gaston told the Shelby County Reporter on Wednesday.
The high school’s assistant head coach, Ben Berguson, has been named interim head football coach until the investigation is completed.
