The U.S. Air Force says a 21-year-old airman has died while training in Central Texas.

The San Antonio Express-News (http://bit.ly/29F6PAL ) reports the Air Force said Tuesday that the airman died Thursday at Camp Bullis, a sprawling training ground in Bexar County. The newspaper reports the Air Force provided no other information about the death.

Airman 1st Class Kenneth Sturgill of Livermore, California, was attending Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape Selection School when he was found unresponsive during a safety check by an instructor. That was on the second-to-last day of a 19-day SERE course.

Officials said Sturgill was assigned to the 66th Training Squadron, Detachment 3. The newspaper reports Sturgill graduated in April at the top of his basic training class of recruits at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.
