PLAINFIELD, Conn. – A U.S. Air Force member has been accused in Connecticut of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl he met online.
Exeter, Rhode Island, resident Nicholas Murphy is charged with sexual assault and illegal sexual contact.
Plainfield, Connecticut, police say the 26-year-old Murphy met the girl through social media. The girl was reported missing on Sept. 17, 2015. Police say she was with Murphy during that time.
Murphy has turned himself over to authorities. He's being held on $50,000 cash bail and can't be reached for comment. He's scheduled to face a judge on Monday.
It's unclear whether he has an attorney who could comment on the charges against him.
