COLUMBIA, Md. – A Maryland mall that was the scene of a weekend shooting that left three people dead, including the gunman, is set to reopen with increased security.
The Mall in Columbia is scheduled to open 1 p.m. Monday. Police say 19-year-old Darion Marcus Aguilar killed two people at the mall Saturday before turning the gun on himself. Aguilar was a skateboarding enthusiast who had no criminal record. Police say he showed up at the shopping center armed with a shotgun, plenty of ammunition and a backpack filled with crude homemade explosives.
The two victims — Brianna Benlolo and Tyler Johnson — worked at Zumiez, a shop that sells skateboarding gear.
Police are still not sure about a motive.
