Abner Louima, victim in 1997 sodomy attack, to appear with Democratic nominee for Brooklyn DA

Abner Louima, the Haitian immigrant brutally attacked in a New York City police station in 1997, will be stumping for the Democratic nominee for Brooklyn district attorney.

Ken Thompson is a former federal prosecutor who tried the Louima case.

According to the New York Daily News (http://nydn.us/1gL5U2V ), Thompson's campaign says Louima will appear with the candidate and the Rev. Al Sharpton on Saturday and at church visits on Sunday.

Sixteen years ago, an officer in a Brooklyn police station raped Louima with a broken broomstick. The officer was later sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Louima now lives in Florida. He says "when we needed justice, Ken Thompson delivered."

Thompson squares off against incumbent Charles Hynes on Nov. 5. Hynes lost the Democratic nomination to Thompson. He's running on the GOP line.
