Just to the other side of the sisters of St. Charles Borromeo Convent’s prized vegetable garden, a million-dollar strip club is being built that will feature naked women and a hi-tech 3D projection system, MyFoxChicago.com reports.

“They tell us it’s a restaurant,” Sister Marissonia Daltoe, a nun at Stone Park convent that sits just outside Chicago, told the station. “But officially, we received news it’s a gentleman’s cabaret.”

The club owner says the $3 million facility will provide “entertainment for mature audiences,” the station reported. Bob Itzkow, the owner, likened it to Lido in Paris, equipped with a top-shelf restaurant.

"We've taken great care to make sure we don't disturb our neighbors,” Itzkow said. “It's a privilege to be here."

Itzkow said he sound-proofed the building and focused the lighting so the nuns and neighbors would hardly know it’s there.

The project met resistance from the Stone Park mayor and village trustees who voted against the project twice, keeping the convent in mind. Itzkow eventually sued, citing zoning laws, and a judge gave him the green light, the station reported.

The nuns say they had no idea the project was started until it was too late. The town said it sent them a certified letter, but the nuns said it was sent to the wrong address.

“Personally, I believe they never gave it to us because they knew they were going to have a negative response to it,” Daltoe said, the station reported.
