ILWACO, Wash. – A 7-foot warm-water fish rarely seen in Washington waters washed ashore on a beach at Cape Disappointment State Park near the mouth of the Columbia River.
The mola sunfish weighed close to 300 pounds when it was found last week.
An interpretive assistant at the park, Rachel Morris, told The Daily Astorian (http://bit.ly/1pwWFl2 ) rangers don't know why this particular mola landed on the beach. Morris says it's rare to see one in the ocean in the Northwest.
