Police are investigating four late-night shootings in the Boston area that left five people dead.

A man was fatally shot in a car in Cambridge near the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus at about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday. The driver of the car is cooperating with police.

Three men were shot, two fatally, in Boston's Roxbury section at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday.

About five minutes later, three other men were shot in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood. One died. The other two are expected to survive.

And early Thursday, police say a woman was shot and killed in a municipal parking lot in Everett.

There is no indication so far that any of the shootings are related.
