An official says the four people killed in a plane crash at a municipal airport in southern Utah were from the St. George area.

St. George city official Marc Mortensen tells The Spectrum that the four have been positively identified, but their names aren't expected to be released until later Sunday.

All four people aboard the single-engine Cessna 172 died in the crash early Saturday.

Mortensen says their downed plane was found at about 6 a.m. some 400 feet from the runway, by an airport crew making a routine safety check of the property.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the cause of the crash hasn't been determined. And it's unclear if it crashed after takeoff or while landing.
