Four people were injured Thursday in an explosion at a Massachusetts chemical plant, officials said

The explosion happened around 2:30 p.m. at the Dow Chemical plant in North Andover, Mass., according to the state fire marshal's office.

Four people have been transported to the hospital, including one with serious injuries, fire officials said.

Members of the fire investigation unit, the bomb squad and a state Hazmat team are investigating the incident.

North Andover Town Manager Andrew Maylor told WFXT-TV the incident happened quickly and there appears to be no danger to the surrounding area.

A worker was killed in a chemical explosion at the same plant in 2013.
