Four people are in custody on drug charges after police executed search warrants at three apartments in New York City.

Police say undisclosed quantities of heroin and marijuana were found Tuesday night in the apartments in a lower Manhattan building. They say three of the people lived in the building.

All four — three men and a woman — face charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Two of the suspects also face charges of criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

Police wouldn't say why they had search warrants for the apartments. They say that "at this time," they aren't linking the arrests to their investigation into the death of Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Hoffman was found dead Sunday in his apartment with a syringe in his arm.
