Three men have pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a robbery at a Phoenix strip club and the subsequent shooting of a police officer and a civilian on New Year's Eve.

One of the men, Jason Beau Keep believed his former employer had up to $500,000 in the safe. The plot fell apart when the suspects spotted a large crowd outside the club, police said.

The thieves, authorities say, instead followed two employees and robbed them of $18,000 outside a nearby restaurant before their confrontation with the officer and the volunteer sheriff's posse member.

A Maricopa County Superior Court spokeswoman says Roger Allen Sharp and David Lee Murray Jr., entered not guilty pleas to robbery and other charges.

A not-guilty plea was entered for Keep after he waived appearing in court Wednesday on an armed robbery charge.
