2 Convenience Store Clerks Dead in Iowa Shootings

ALGONA, Iowa -- Authorities says two store clerks have been shot to death in attempted robberies at two convenience stores in the northern Iowa cities of Algona and Humboldt and a suspect is in custody.

The Kossuth County attorney's office says a clerk was shot late Monday at the Crossroads gas station in Algona. Another clerk was shot and killed at the Kum and Go in Humboldt.

Officials say a suspect in both shootings was taken into custody just before midnight Monday in Webster City.
