Deputies have arrested two people they believe are involved in the theft of urns from a Rapides Parish cemetery.

The Town Talk reports 55-year-old Johnny Fitzgerald of Ball and 36-year-old Kimberly Deville of Pineville were arrested in the theft of the urns from Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Ball.

Authorities believe they were selling them to local scrap yards for profit.

Sheriff's Maj. Jasper Bay estimated that 500 or more urns have been stolen from the cemetery.

Deputies say the value of the urns is estimated at $575 each, but some urns cost more than $1,000 each.

Fitzgerald was booked on 30 counts of copper theft from a religious building, cemetery or graveyard. Deville faces five counts of possession of stolen goods
