Authorities say one person is dead in a shooting involving a sheriff's deputy in northeast Georgia.

It was one of several shootings involving Georgia law enforcement officers over the weekend.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas says the shooting happened Sunday night in Carnesville. Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Nelly Miles said in an email that one person is dead and three others were wounded.

Authorities did not immediately explain how the deputy was involved. Miles said preliminary findings would be released Monday.

In Clayton County, officials say an off-duty police officer fatally shot a man who had been firing shots toward another person near a restaurant Sunday.

Miles also said two Sandy Springs police officers shot and wounded a 22-year-old man after he rammed two police vehicles Friday night.
