Outcry Against Three Boulder Officials

Some progress on the Boulder High School outrage. That is the subject of this evening's "Talking Points Memo."

As we have been reporting, officials at Boulder High in Colorado ordered students to attend a seminar, where they were encouraged by four far-left adults to use illegal drugs, have sex with anyone and everyone, and not to use a condom if they didn't want to.

Here's a brief part of that.

JOEL BECKER: I'm going to encourage you to have sex, and I'm going to encourage you to use drugs appropriately.

ANTONIO SACRE: That's the thing they don't tell you about condoms. If you're lucky enough to get them on, and you still stay hard, it's hard to stay hard.

(LAUGHTER)

SACRE: And another thing, it doesn't feel as good.

SANHO TREE: It's very natural for young people to experiment with same-sex relationships.

Now, incredibly, there's no remorse on the part of the school principal, superintendent, and school board president.

We asked each of them to explain this bizarre and disturbing incident, but they refused. And now they're being persecuted by "The Factor" and its viewers, they say.

A report in The Boulder Daily Camera paints Helayne Jones, Bud Jenkins, and George Garcia, the school officials responsible for this outrage, as victims. They are getting nasty e-mails, the paper reports. They are afraid.

Well, it's the same old garbage. Whenever we expose wrongdoing and hold villains responsible, they run away, wailing how mean "The Factor" audience is.

What bull. Those Boulder school officials should have been fired on the spot for corrupting children. They may have even broken the law. And, tomorrow, we will have a report on that.

Ninety-nine percent of "The Factor" audience is responsible and perceptive. Polls show this program has the smartest, most affluent, and most influential people watching in the country, not only on cable news, but in all of TV news.

Are there some cranks who disrespect the process? Of course. They can be found in every audience. But the outcry against these three Boulder officials is based upon their gross irresponsibility.

Folks have a right to be angry with these cowards, who, unbelievably have invited the same loons back again to Boulder High next year. The Boulder Camera article says the school wants to put this disgrace behind it.

Sorry. Encouraging students to break the law and put themselves at risk sexually is not going to be tolerated. If those three think things are bad now, wait until they see what's coming down the pike at them.

Now why is business so bad? Well, some will tell you the Internet is slamming the papers. But I believe it's ideology. The Chronicle, like many newspapers, is a committed left-wing concern, and for people who want unfiltered information, it's a tough sell. Lots of talent at the Chronicle — I read it all last week when I was out there in California, and it is some good work.
