Number Keeps Growing

Seventy five members of the House -- including one Democrat -- have written a letter to 9/11 commissioner and former Janet Reno deputy Jamie Gorelick, urging her to answer questions about her role in counter terrorism policy in the Clinton years. The 9/11 commission is refusing to make Gorelick a witness, saying she has already answered questions behind closed doors.

But the 75 House members cite Gorelick's refusal to testify publicly, and have sent her a list of 11 questions, including -- "Given that you [testified] in October 1995 that 'new methods to improve coordination and cooperation' [between agencies] needed to be developed, ... what did you do to rectify this egregious problem?" Their letter demands -- "full and complete responses" by Monday. No response yet from Gorelick.

Kerry is Coming to College?

The President of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri -- where Vice President Dick Cheney yesterday denounced John Kerry's -- "contempt for our good allies" in the war on terrorism -- says he was so -- "surprised and disappointed" by Cheney's speech that he felt compelled to invite Kerry to campus for a reply.

School President Fletcher Lamkin says Cheney's staff promised only a -- "major foreign policy address," insisting -- "nothing was said about a stump speech." A Cheney spokeswoman, however, says the speech was always intended as a -- "campaign message event." As for Kerry, he's accepted the invitation, and plans to speak at Westminster on Friday.

Kerry's Lead Lost Among Lads

A new Ipsos poll shows that John Kerry has now lost a substantial lead he once had over President Bush among younger voters. Two months ago Kerry was leading President Bush among 18- to 29-year-olds by 15 percentage points, but now Kerry is leading by only 3 points -- a statistical deadheat.

What's more, only a minority of young Kerry backers say they will definitely vote for Kerry, with nearly a third saying they could change their minds. And while only 47 percent of young voters approve of President Bush's job performance, that's slightly up from last month.

Newspaper Not Biased?

From the wonderful world of Arab media, the deputy editor of the government-owned newspaper Al-Gomhoria in Egypt says -- "If you want to know the real perpetrator of ... every act of terrorism, look for the Zionist Jews. ... It is the Jews, with their hidden filthy hands, who play their part with expertise in order to harm the Arabs and Muslims and to intensify hatred toward them."

Most recently, Abd Al-Wahhab Adas says, Jews carried out last month's deadly bombings in Madrid, insisting -- "it is obvious that the Jews are the ones who placed [the bombs]. ... They are behind all troubles, disasters and catastrophes in the world."
