New Developments Putting Tax Cuts in Focus
Gerri Willis: Both Wall Street and Main Street in America want this tax cut. However, the tax code is so complicated that there needs to be tax reform first.
Charlie Gasparino: We need a tax cut, especially a corporate tax cut, sooner rather than later. We need corporate tax cuts. The President is going to have a plan and the Republicans are going to have a plan. Then there are the infrastructure and wall bills. How much will we be able to afford tax cuts?
Gary Kaltbaum: Every time you lower taxes, revenue will go up to the treasury. The problem is that when government grows, the economy slows so stop taking money out of corporations and consumers and let them spend their own money.
Ben Stein: We're running enormous deficits. How could we possibly rationalize adding to the debt by cutting taxes? Yes, cutting or abolishing the corporate tax is the right thing to do, but cutting personal taxes with the big deficit is not smart at all. We don't have the money to have tax cuts.
Adam Lashinsky: We need a balanced budget. The Republicans are not going to go along with an infrastructure bill or keeping entitlements where they are so it will be interesting to see what happens
President Trump: It's Time to Dismantle the Gangs Terrorizing Our Citizens
Gerri Willis: This isn't just a city problem, this is a national problem. That's what I appreciated about Trump's raising of the issue. He made it a national issue.
Charlie Gasparino: Mostly, crime is a local government issue. This is really a local law enforcement issue. Here in New York City, we saw a spike in crime once they did away with stop and frisk. It's controversial, but it works.
Gary Kaltbaum: There are 33,000 gangs across the country and 1.4 million people in the gangs and forty percent of them are 18 years or younger. We have to change this, and I applaud Trump for saying something about it because something has to be done.
Ben Stein: Drugs are a huge part of a problem. President Clinton had a great law on criminal justice reform. We have a civil war and it has to stop.
Adam Lashinsky: I don't think Trump's comments are going to mean anything. The FBI and local law enforcement have been working very hard to stop this issue for years. These are difficult problems but good for him for raising it.
Are We Getting Closer to ObamaCare on the Way Out?
Gerri Willis: You have to repeal and replace Obamacare right now. Tom Price is going to executing the executive order on Obamacare and then Congress is going to pass the repeal of the ACA.
Charlie Gasparino: They shouldn't rush this through. They should take the time to do it. Work on economy first before ACA repeal.
Gary Kaltbaum: They need to change the healthcare system to a market based system where people can pay across state lines rather than the limited options they have right now with sky high premiums.
Ben Stein: It's a daunting task. Just find people that absolutely cannot pay for their health insurance and pay them to get their own.
Adam Lashinsky: Members of Congress know they don't want take away any coverage. This isn't happening anytime soon.
