NEW CALLS TO SECURE BORDER AFTER ANOTHER ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT IS CHARGED WITH MURDER

MICHELLE FIELDS: I think Trump is right. We need to have a serious conversation about what is happening on the border, and also sanctuary cities. This isn’t just a problem in terms of safety. It’s also a problem in terms of the economic burden that’s being put on taxpayers. Each illegal immigrant that’s here in the United States costs about $24,000. They tend to contribute $10,000 in taxes. So the benefits that they receive exceed the amount of taxes that they’re paying. So it’s costing taxpayers $14,000 per illegal immigrant, and we’re the ones who have to pay for this. We need to have a serious conversation about it.

WAYNE ROGERS: I don’t think you can measure lives in money. Every life counts. The fact of the matter is if any one of these lives is lost, it’s a tragedy. We should do away with the cities that are sanctuaries, and then build a wall at the border.

JONATHAN HOENIG: Just like the Democrats with ObamaCare, you’re using these emotional appeals to get power. Take the idea of a wall, which is one of Trump’s big ideas. First of all, it’s asinine from a financial perspective, but it’s about control. Trump is going to decide who gets in and who gets out.

JESSICA TARLOV: That wouldn’t be cost effective. If we deported everyone who was here illegally right now it would cost between $400 billion and $600 billion, and take 20 years. Additionally, the vast majority of illegal immigrants who are here are not criminals. We have 90,000 people who are not citizens in our prison system right now. That’s illegal and legal immigrants.

DONALD TRUMP: WE HAVE TO USE FORCE TO TAKE ISIS’ OIL AND CUT OFF ITS MONEY SUPPLY

WAYNE ROGERS: Cut off the oil. Cut off the banks supplying them with money. Cut off every resource that they have that helps finance this.

JONATHAN HOENIG: Oil is only 10 percent of their funding. Most of their funding comes from looting and plunder of the areas that they right now are occupying. But they’re wrong on this particular idea. These people aren’t motivated by oil.

MICHELLE FIELDS: I think that we need to go after their source of wealth. We need to pick up our airstrikes. We also need to show the people of Iraq that we’re taking the threat of ISIS seriously. There’s no reason for them to resist ISIS, because they feel like ISIS has already one because they think America is disengaged, that America does not care about going in there and having a strategy. So we need to show them that we are interested in defeating ISIS so they can resist them. They feel like this is their only option.

JESSICA TARLOV: They definitely care about money. They really care about ideology. I think that we need to fight on three fronts: the ideological front, the economic front, and then also militarily. The former chief of staff of the army who just retired last week has said that we should be talking about putting boots on the ground in so far as embedding people with Iraqi forces to help train them and to help them fight, and this wouldn’t turn into a full-scale ground troops war. But we need to do more to support them. Michelle is absolutely correct there. They have lost the will to fight. Ash Carter has spoken about this and what a dangerous threat that is to the security in Iraq, and also to the world more largely. So I think there is more we can be doing on the ground there; certainly the airstrikes, and airstrikes towards their oil fields, getting back to how we began this.

JONATHAN HOENIG: I’m from the Maria Montessori school. Play is the child’s work. There isn’t any such thing as boy toys or girl toys, so I think they’re making a smart decision.

MICHELLE FIELDS: This is exactly why Donald Trump is so popular right now. Americans are so sick and tired of companies and people bowing to the PC police, which is a very small group of people who are offended by everything. Democrats love to say that republicans are anti-science—here they are denying biology. Is Target going to remove the signs from the men and women’s restrooms? No, this is just them bowing to the PC police.

JESSICA TARLOV: Gender-based marketing is a phenomenon from the 90s. We’re acting like this is the way it’s always been. We know that little girls play with GI Joe sometimes. Little boys play with Barbies. I think that what we’re really talking about is an anxiety that this is going to turn our kids gay, or that you’ll walk down a gender-neutral aisle and you’ll come out trans-gender. That’s not how it happens.

WAYNE ROGERS: I don’t know whether Target is making a good decision or not, but their research should tell them what they’re doing. Look, it’s a free market. They can market any way they want to. they can sell girls’ toys to boys, boys’ toys to girls. It’s a question of dollars and cents. If it makes profit for them, that’s what they’ll do.
