There's plenty of blame to go around on this Katrina mess: A president who maybe didn't move soon enough. A mayor who didn't appreciate the vulnerabilities of his levees early enough.
All I'm saying is, I've had enough.
There'll be plenty of time for blaming and plenty of time for second-guessing. But neither's going to help the thousands still stranded or potentially thousands more still dying.
If this truly is the greatest crisis since September 11, remember then that we didn't point fingers on September 12, or September 19, or September at all.
We waited some months for that. I say we wait some months for this. Because right now this is a crisis. And one that calls for authorities working together. Not ripping each other apart.
All I know is a Democratic mayor needs a Republican president. A Republican president needs a Democratic governor. And both need troops and support and food and water.
There's plenty both parties did wrong. For now, let's focus on what we can do right.
