Will Apple iPhone 4 Arrive in June?

Will Apple unveil a new iPhone model with a front-facing camera and longer battery life? That’s a prime question as Apple prepares to hold its annual developers conference this summer.

announced on Wednesday that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference will be held this year from June 7 through June 11 in San Francisco. Apple declined to provide details on the specifics of its keynote address–the highlight of the event–but it usually takes place on the first day. Apple CEO Steve Jobs was absent last year because he was on medical leave, but he has since returned to work.

If excitement for this year’s conference is muted compared to previous years, it’s because Apple watchers think they know most of what will be announced. Apple typically uses the conference’s keynote address to show off the next new iPhone. But this year, technology blog Gizmodo let the cat out of the bag early.

Last week, the blog unveiled details of what is likely to be the new iPhone on its Web site after a source, who found a prototype of the next-generation iPhone at a bar, sold the device to them. According to Gizmodo’s examination of the device, the next iPhone is believed to include a bigger lens, a flash on the back camera, and an improved display in addition to a front-facing camera for video-chatting.

Apple also will likely provide more details about its newest operating system, game social network and the iAds mobile advertising service after it gave media a sneak peak of all of them earlier this month.
