This week marks the 100th anniversary of known girl scout cookie sales.

Uber partnered with Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania (GSWPA) to celebrate with free Girl Scout cookies from Pittsburgh to Johnstown, Pa.

The ride-sharing company purchased 650 boxes from the Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania for its giveaway. For residents trying to get in on the celebration, a “cookies” option popped up in the app next to the UberX and UberXL ride options with a $0 price tag.

For Uber Driver Ron Graziano, it was a busy day of deliveries, but he says he still can’t believe he gets paid to give gifts to strangers.

"Bobby Jean canceled. Bobby Jean, you missed a whole bunch of cookies,” Graziano said. "Now we gotta go to Summerly.”

GSWPA Public Relations Manager Lisa Shade said the region’s Girl Scouts are grateful for the donation.

“The proceeds from that sale are going to help that troop have amazing adventures in Girl Scouts,” Shade said.

Uber plans on having another free treat giveaway later this year, Graziano said.
