Mariah Carey, 38, married her boyfriend of one month, 27-year-old actor Nick Cannon, on Wednesday, according to reports.
Carey obtained a marriage license on the Caribbean island of Eleuthera, a source told People magazine. Meanwhile, Henrietta White, who works for the island's Eleuthera Florist, told E! News: "My son did the flowers for the wedding."
Carey married Cannon at the home she just bought in Eleuthera, a source close to the Grammy-winning singer told the New York Post.
"They have been smitten with each other for days, weeks," the friend told the Post. "And she's always had a crush on him."
A source told the Post there was no prenuptial agreement.
"There wasn't time," the source said.
According to Latina magazine, which broke the story, the couple tied the knot in a small ceremony.
While Cannon's family confirmed the news to various media outlets, Carey's nephew says on his Facebook page that "what you may or may not have read or heard is not true."
And the buzz on the blogs was that the marriage is a publicity stunt. Carey's latest album, "E=MC2," dropped April 15, and Cannon appears as her lover in her upcoming video for "Bye Bye."
"E=MC2" is currently on the top of the charts, and Cannon has at least four movies due out this year.
Despite Carey being 11 years his senior, a source close to Cannon told FOXNews.com's Pop Tarts column that they "make a good match."
"I can't confirm any wedding rumors," our insider said. "But I'm not denying it either."
Reps for both stars declined to comment for Pop Tarts.
Another insider close to the Carey clan thought the rumored nuptials would be "unlikely" as Mariah is "very protective of her funds" and wouldn't have gone through with the process without a
prenuptial agreement.
"To my knowledge this hasn't been arranged, but who knows," the insider said
Carey wed record mogul Tommy Mottola in an extravagant wedding in 1993. They had a bitter divorce in 1998. Cannon was recently engaged to Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks, to whom he proposed via the Times Square JumboTron. Five months later, the couple broke up.
Last Saturday, Carey was seen sporting a huge diamond ring on her finger at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her movie, "Tennessee," in which she plays a waitress. Cannon was at her side at the party. Speculation swirled that the couple were engaged.
Asked what he loved about Carey, Cannon reportedly cooed "everything."
"Everyone is happy to see her happy," Carey's friend told The Post. "And it could work out — some people know each other for five years and get divorced. Maybe this is true, instant love."
The 17-carat diamond ring Carey has been wearing is similar to the one Cannon gave Ebanks, whom he dated for six weeks before proposing.
Ebanks' rep confirmed to media outlets Thursday that the model returned the ring to Cannon.
Famed jeweler Jacob & Co. was quick to publicize its own role in the reputed union with a press release touting the ring Cannon reportedly gave Carey. The release described it as "crafted from platinum and features a square emerald cut fancy light pink diamond as the center stone surrounded by 58 intense pink diamonds and two half moon diamonds on each side.
"The total carat weight of the ring — center stone is 10 carats — is a jaw-dropping 17 carats with a value of $2.5 million."
People magazine reported that the ring isn't the same one Cannon gave Ebanks.
Cannon has put out a rap album, but is best known for his role in the movie "Drumline" and a Nickelodeon TV series. He has previously romanced singer Christina Milian and reality star Kim Kardashian.
