Hello, fashionistas!

Oooohhhh, what a big night it was for Hollywood's biggest stars, and all of us fashionably-conscious star gazers. Here are my picks for the best dressed on the red carpet at the 2009 Oscars!

The Nudists

Color was by far a minority this year, possibly because of the poor economy and therefore a desire to downplay the glam factor. But if that was the intention, our favorite fashionistas failed miserably, because they sparkled and shined brilliantly in silver, white, and all colors pale. Thank god Evan Rachel Woods' goth days are over, because she looked down right ethereal in an ivory body-hugging Elie Saab gown. Anne Hathaway too lit up the red carpet in a champagne Armani Prive style covered in pailettes and Swarovski crystals. She rarely goes wrong, although at times tends to dress a bit too mature, but not this year— she looked elegant, young, and glamorous! Penelope Cruz on the other hand, never disappoints, and chose a vintage Balmain ball gown that was perfect for the Oscar winner! But our favorite was by far, Marisa Tomei who is never a sure-thing when it comes to fashion. She often makes weird style statements, but this year looked stunning in a one-shouldered pearl grey satin Versace Atelier gown that had the prettiest pleats I've ever seen!

The Black List

Some stars just stick to the basics, and while often that can be boring, sometimes it's just right! Angelina Jolie finally decided to wear something that didn't look like it was leftover from her maternity days in a black sweetheart style from Elie Saab. Harder to miss however, was her emerald Lorraine Schwartz earrings that quite frankly looked like they needed their own seat! One of the biggest surpises however was teen star, Vanessa Hudgens in a black Marchesa gown with floral detail and drop earrings from my favorite jewelry designer, Cathy Waterman. The High School songstress, out-glammed some of Hollywood's hottest, and made a true statement at her first Oscar event.

Color Conquers All

Drum roll please... While muted colors certainly dominated, my two favorite styles were the brightest and the best! Presenter Natalie Portman, wowed the crowd in lilac Rodarte, and Freida Pinto, the most beautiful new starlet out there, looked simply stunning in John Galliano. The one - shoulder style had just enough shine, to crown her this year's best dressed!
