Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Yankees have traded catcher Francisco Cervelli to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for pitcher Justin Wilson.
Cervelli spent each of his seven big league seasons with the Yankees and last year batted .301 with two homers and 13 RBI in 49 games as the backup to Brian McCann. He missed two months with a hamstring strain.
The 28-year-old veteran is a career .278 hitter.
Wilson was 3-4 with a 4.20 ERA in 70 games last season for the Pirates. The 27-year-old lefty owns a career mark of 9-5 with a 2.99 ERA in 136 games over three seasons, all with Pittsburgh.
