Toronto, ON – The New York Yankees have recalled reliever Ryota Igarashi from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The right-hander takes the roster spot created when starter CC Sabathia was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with left elbow inflammation.
Igarashi joins the Yankees for the third time this season after being claimed off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays in late May. He was 3-3 with seven saves and a 2.45 ERA in 23 appearances with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
