New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner told MLB Network Radio on Wednesday that he recently underwent minor surgery to repair a sports hernia/core muscle injury.

Gardner said he expects to be about 100-percent in a week or so and will then resume his offseason workouts.

The 31-year-old enjoyed a successful season this past year with the Yankees, as he set career highs with 17 home runs and 58 RBI. However, he did see his average dip nearly 20 points to .256.
