Bronx, NY – The New York Yankees activated third baseman Eric Chavez from the seven-day disabled list after he suffered a concussion during a game last week.
The Yankees optioned utility man Eduardo Nunez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes- Barre.
Chavez came out of a game during an at-bat May 2 against Baltimore after he was injured the previous half-inning diving in an attempt to stop a ball hit down the line.
He was hitting .290 with a .303 on-base percentage, three homers and five RBI in 15 games before going on the DL.
He was expected to be in the starting lineup as a designated hitter against Seattle on Friday night.
