Stuttgart, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki and Australian Open runner-up Dominika Cibulkova each pulled out of the draw at the $710,000 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
The unseeded 2011 Stuttgart runner-up Wozniacki was scheduled for action Monday, but the Danish star pulled out of the field, citing a left wrist injury, and was replaced by Johanna Konta in a match against Estonian slugger Kaia Kanepi, who promptly dismissed the British lucky loser 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.
Meanwhile, the seventh-seeded Slovakian Cibulkova, who lost in Sunday's championship match in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, pulled out of Stuttgart because of an Achilles injury. Her spot in the draw was claimed by German lucky loser Mona Barthel, who will meet fifth-seeded former world No. 1 and 2008 Porsche champion Jelena Jankovic on Tuesday.
This week's top seeds are Polish star Agnieszka Radwanska and Romanian Simona Halep, while two-time defending champion Maria Sharapova is seeded sixth. The Russian star beat China's Li Na in last year's indoor red clay finale at Porsche Arena.
The former top-ranked Sharapova will open defense of her titles with a match here on Tuesday against Czech Lucie Safarova.
The 2014 Stuttgart champ will claim $135,000 and a Porsche 911 Carrera sports car.
