St. Louis, MO – Down to their last strike in the ninth and 10th innings, the St. Louis Cardinals rallied to tie the Texas Rangers twice in Game 6 of the World Series.
Indeed, a game that was so ugly early on was shaping up to be an instant classic.
After David Freese hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at 7-7 for St. Louis, Josh Hamilton put the Rangers back on top with a two-run homer in the top of the 10th.
But Lance Berkman -- like Freese, buried in a two-strike count -- delivered a two-run single to center field in the bottom of the 10th to tie the game once again.
The Rangers, chasing the first World Series title in franchise history, have won two straight games to take a 3-2 lead in the series.
