MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson will serve two years probation as part of his sentence for driving drunk.
Jefferson pleaded guilty Thursday to fourth-degree driving while impaired. He was arrested Feb. 28 near downtown Minneapolis a few hours after a home loss to Portland.
Hennepin County District Judge Mel Dickstein ordered Jefferson to perform 40 hours of community service and fined him $300. He sentenced him to 30 days in the county workhouse, but stayed the jail time as long as Jefferson maintains a clean driving record.
Jefferson served a two-game suspension and apologized to his teammates for his arrest. He led the Wolves in scoring this season at 17.1 points per game and was second in rebounding at 9.3 per game.
