Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Timberwolves announced that coach Flip Saunders will miss Monday's game against Denver due to an illness.

Sam Mitchell will act as the head coach in Saunders' place. Mitchell was the head coach of the Toronto Raptors for parts of five seasons from 2004-09, compiling a 156-189 regular-season record with a pair of playoff appearances.

Minnesota will be trying to end an 11-game losing streak when they host the Nuggets.

Saunders joins two Timberwolves players with illnesses. Forward Chase Budinger will miss his second straight game, and forward Robbie Hummel was declared out for Monday's tilt. Minnesota will have 10 players available.
