North Carolina State's Lorenzo Brown announced Thursday that he will forego his final season of eligibility and declare for this year's NBA Draft.

Brown, a 6-foot-5 guard who has started at the point for the Wolfpack in each of his three seasons, is considered to be a potential first-round pick by the majority of scouting services.

"I feel that it is in my best interest and the best interest of my family to make this move now," said Brown. "I have enjoyed my NC State career and it has been a privilege to be a part of rebuilding this program. I am proud to be a member of the Pack for life."

Brown earned second team All-ACC honors this past season after leading the conference in assists (7.2 apg) and ranking second in steals (2.0 spg). He averaged 12.3 points as well for a Wolfpack squad that reached the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.

The 22-year-old started 95 of the 101 games he appeared in with NC State and averaged 11.6 points while ranking third in school history with 589 career assists.

"We are grateful to Lorenzo for his contributions to our program and wish him nothing but the best in the future," said Wolfpack head coach Mark Gottfried. "I am looking forward to watching him play basketball for many years to come."
