With decision on Coyotes nearing, Bettman says NHL 'still focused' on keeping team in Arizona

With a decision on the Phoenix Coyotes possible in the next two weeks, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman says the league remains focused on keeping the team in Arizona.

The NHL has chosen a new ownership group for the team, Renaissance Sports & Entertainment. But the group's deal is contingent on a new lease agreement for Jobing.com Arena, and negotiations with the Glendale City Council are still ongoing.

Bettman says the franchise's future is in the City Council's hands. While he wouldn't put a timetable on when a decision has to be made, the City Council has a meeting on June 25 and the NHL's Board of Governors meets two days later. Asked if a decision will be made then, Bettman said, "Maybe," adding "Stuff's going to happen."
