Wilshere to miss England matches

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has been ruled out of England's upcoming friendlies against Ireland and Brazil after Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirmed the 21-year-old needs a minor operation on his ankle.

Wilshere will undergo surgery at the end of the Premier League season, which concludes Sunday.

With the nation's friendly matches slated for May 29 at Wembley and June 2 in Rio, the short window means that the Arsenal starlet will not recover in time.
