San Diego Padres first baseman Wil Myers was announced on Friday as ambassador for the 2016 MLB All-Star Week events in San Diego. As ambassador, Wil Myers will help generate awareness for events in San Diego during All-Star Week, which includes the following:

  • July 8-12 MLB All-Star FanFest at the San Diego Convention Center
  • July 10 All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game
  • July 11 Gatorade All-Star Workout Day featuring the T-Mobile Home Run Derby
  • July 12 The 87th MLB All-Star Game presented by MasterCard at Petco Park

Past players who previously served as ambassadors for their host city include Todd Frazier, Torii Hunter, Derek Jeter, Albert Pujols and Justin Upton.

Wil Myers is having a great season for the San Diego Padres in 2016, hitting .286 with a career-high 15 home runs. He leads the Padres in runs (43), and is second on the team in hits (74) and RBI (40).

Myers is joing former Padres Trevor Hoffman and Dave Winfield, who were named official spokespeople of the All-Star Week events.
