WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) Matt White kicked a 35-yard field on the final play of regulation then kicked a 37-yarder to boost Monmouth to a 20-17 overtime victory over Liberty on Saturday.

White's winning kick came on Monmouth's fourth play in overtime after Dimitrius Smith recovered a Flames (3-4, 0-2 Big South) fumble on fourth-and-2 at the Hawks 25.

A 1-yard plunge by Todd Macon and a 2-point conversion with 1:11 left in regulation gave Liberty its first lead at 17-14. But Cody Williams, who was 17-of-34 passing for 194 yards, led the Hawks (3-4, 1-1) downfield with three completions for first downs, including a 30-yarder to Reggie White Jr., who laid out to make a spectacular grab.

Liberty's Josh Woodrum attempted a career-high 53 passes, completing 34 for 336 and an interception. Darrin Peterson made 13 catches for 120 yards.

The victory was the first for Monmouth over a FCS-ranked program.
