White Sox activate Pierzynski from DL

The Chicago White Sox have activated catcher leading Detroit Tigers.

Pierzynski, 34, is returning from the first DL stint of his career. He has been out since August 13 with a fractured left wrist.

In 105 games this season, Pierzynski has batted .296 with six homers and 39 RBI.

Additionally on Friday, Chicago recalled pitchers Addison Reed and Shane Lindsay and shortstop Eduardo Escobar from Triple-A Charlotte.

The White Sox are currently 5 1/2 games back of the Tigers, who will host the crucial three-game set.
