Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago White Sox have activated second baseman Gordon Beckham off the 15-day disabled list.

Beckham began the campaign on the DL because of a strained left oblique that he suffered in mid-March. He appeared in 12 games with Double-A Birmingham during a rehab assignment.

The 27-year-old veteran played just 103 games last season because of a broken hamate bone in his left hand that sidelined him for most of the first two months. He hit .267 with five homers and 24 runs batted in last year.

Chicago opened a roster spot for Beckham after Wednesday's game in Detroit by optioning pitcher Charlie Leesman to Triple-A Charlotte.
