GREENSBORO, N.C. – Western Carolina was 7 of 8 from the free throw line in overtime as the Catamounts overcame North Carolina-Greensboro Sunday, 82-77.
After Diante Baldwin's layup gave the Spartans a 75-73 lead, Tawaski King and Brandon Boggs converted four straight from the line to put Western Carolina in front, 77-75. After Kyle Cane dunked to tie the game at 77-77 with 1:35 left to play, Boggs hit a jumper, Trey Sumler hit two free throws and James Sinclair hit the first of two to close it out.
Boggs finished with 25 points to lead the Catamounts (15-12, 8-4 Southern), with Sinclair adding 14 and Sumler and Tom Tankelewicz contributing 13 each. Justin Browning hit a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
UNC Greensboro (12-15, 5-7) was led by Cain's 19 points, with Tevon Saddler adding 11 and Kavel Locke and Nicholas Paulos 10 each.
