Trey Sumler scored 19 points to lead all five Western Carolina starters in double figures as the Catamounts held off North Carolina-Greensboro 83-73 on Saturday.

Sumler hit 5 of 7 3-pointers for Western Carolina (11-13, 7-5 Southern Conference), which stretched its home winning streak to nine games, seven this season.

Harouna Mutombo had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Catamounts, Brandon Boggs added 17 points, Mike Williams 14 and Richie Gordon 12.

Western Carolina never trailed and held a 16-point lead, at 60-44, with 14:12 to go.

The Spartans (4-18, 4-8), who came in having won four of their last six games — with both losses coming in overtime — then went on a 15-0 run. Brandon Evans, who finished with 21 points, scored the last 12 in the spurt to get to 60-59 with 8:49 left.

Mutombo's two free throws ended the Catamounts' drought and sparked a 12-4 run.
