It seems like you can't go a day without seeing a baseball player unleashing a ridiculous bat flip. Maybe Jose Bautista threw down the gauntlet with his unforgettable flip during last year's playoffs and every player -- be it professional or amateur -- is trying to one-up him.
Cue Miami Hurricane Edgar Michelangeli, who hit a critical three-run homer in the ninth inning to give the Canes an 8-7 lead, which they held on to against N.C. State.
Obviously, this was a dramatic moment in the game, and Michelangeli made sure everyone knew what he did. After crushing the blast, Michelangeli slowly walked down the first-base line -- bat pointed toward the sky while still in hand -- and then looked into his own dugout. He punctuated the moment by flipping the bat high in the air.
It appears bat-flipping is here to stay. Have fun, pitchers.
