Dundee United signed French defender Gregory Vignal on Wednesday to a contract that runs until January.

Vignal has spent time in Scotland with Rangers, and has also enjoyed stints with Liverpool, Lens and Birmingham during his career.

The 31-year-old was most recently with Greek side Atromitos, and United manager Peter Houston feels he brings valuable experience to the team.

"I have been looking to add a left-sided defender to the squad. It is important we add experience to our young squad but first and foremost he is a very good player who will provide extra quality on the left of the park," Houston said.
