Den Bosch, The Netherlands (SportsNetwork.com) - Surprising American qualifier Coco Vandeweghe and China's Zheng Jie will be the combatants in Saturday's final at the Topshelf Open, a final grass-court Wimbledon tune-up.
The 22-year-old New York City native Vandeweghe upset eighth-seeded Czech Klara Koukalova 6-4, 6-2, while Zheng Jie handled fellow non-seed Magdalena Rybarikova, of Slovakia, 6-1, 6-3 in Friday's semifinals at Autotron Rosmalen.
Vandeweghe will now appear in her second career WTA final, having lost in Stanford two years ago.
The 31-year-old Zheng is 4-2 in her career finals, with her last win coming in Auckland in 2012.
The 69th-ranked Vandeweghe and world No. 90 Zheng have split two career meetings, with both coming during the 2011 campaign.
Saturday's winner will earn $47,000.
