Valencia, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Valencia earned its second consecutive victory in La Liga play on Sunday after rolling to a 3-1 result over Espanyol at the Mestalla.
Coming off a 3-0 drubbing of Malaga back on Aug. 29, Valencia got off the mark quickly as Pablo Piatti found the back of the net in the seventh minute and the home side took the lead into the intermission.
It was more of the same for Valencia in the second half as Daniel Parejo doubled the margin in the 63rd minute and Francisco Alcacer made it 3-0 11 minutes later.
Sergio Garcia pulled one back for Espanyol in stoppage time with a penalty kick conversion, but it was too little, too late for the visiting side, which is still looking for its first three-point effort of the season.
Also in La Liga on Sunday, Edu Albacar, Jonathas and Pedro Mosquera all found the back of the net as Elche hung on for a 3-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.
Carlos Bacca fired home a penalty kick in the 44th minute and Aleix Vidal Parreu added a second tally three minutes from time to hand Sevilla a 2-0 result over Getafe at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
In Sunday's final La Liga fixture, Villarreal and Granada played to a scoreless draw.
