United lose Fletcher for rest of the season

Manchester, England – Manchester United revealed Thursday that the club will be without midfielder Darren Fletcher for the rest of the season.

Fletcher has missed a substantial amount of time with an ongoing ulcerative colitis condition. The 28-year-old looked to be past the ailment but underwent a planned procedure recently to help stop the persisting problem.

"Darren Fletcher will be unavailable for the remainder of this season having undergone surgery to resolve his ulcerative colitis condition," read a statement on the club's official website.
