Former UFC champion Miesha Tate is being hailed as hero after helping an injured girl down Mt. Charleston in Nevada on Sunday.

Fox 5 Vegas reported that Tate, who lives in Las Vegas, carried a 6-year-old girl named Kai from two miles down from the top of Mary Jane Falls. The girl had suffered a broken arm and Tate happened to be near the area where the girl had injured herself.

Tate wrote on her Facebook page that the girl’s mother asked her daughter who would she rather have carry her down and the girl immediately said “I want HER to carry me.”

“I (proceeded) to carry the sweet little thing all the way to the bottom. Kai and I learned a lot about each other on the roughly 2-mile descent and it’s fair to say she inspired me,” she said in the Facebook post.

Tate later posted a video on Instagram showing the girl thanking the UFC fighter.

Tate is currently awaiting her next fight after losing the women’s bantamweight title to Amanda Nunes at UFC 200.
