UCLA forward Nelson suspended again

UCLA forward Reeves Nelson has been suspended indefinitely for conduct unbecoming a member of the basketball team.

Head coach Ben Howland announced the suspension Tuesday. Reeves, a junior, missed a game last month because of a similar suspension.

"This continues a trend of very disappointing behavior by Reeves," Howland said in a statement. "I personally have worked hard with him to illustrate the importance of the code of conduct for our student-athletes, as well as the ramifications for violating it. I am disappointed that he has continued to fall short of my expectations."

Nelson was the Bruins' leading scorer and rebounder last season, averaging 13.9 points and 9.1 boards. In six games this season, his averages have fallen to 5.7 points and 4.5 rebounds.

According to a release from UCLA, there is no timetable for a re-evaluation of Nelson's status with the team.
